I need a new camera

Lately I have been struggling to take good photos of my figures. I need to get a new camera as soon we get the money in our household budget. I was curious as to what you guys would recommend for a good entry level SLR camera. It would have to be one that would take great photos of miniatures and be able to take great outdoor shots. I don't want something huge either. I do have a nice selection of older standard 35mm Nikor lenses that I would love to be able to use as well. I'm open to any suggestions!
